Last month, we visited London for a day. We went by train from our town, and then we took the underground to the city centre. The underground is very fast, so we could see a lot of places. First, we went to the Tower of London. "Can we take photos here?" my sister asked. "Yes, you can, but you can't use the flash," the guard said. Then we walked to the river and took a boat trip. It was wonderful! For lunch, we went to a small café near the river. After lunch, we wanted to go to the museum, but we couldn't find the bus stop. I asked a policeman: "Excuse me, can you tell me the way to the museum?" "Sure. You can take bus 15 or the underground to Tower Hill," he said. We took the bus and arrived in ten minutes. In the evening, we took the train home. It was a great day, and I can't wait to go again!

论can 在课文里出现了三种用法

① 能力（会/能）：we could see a lot of places——我们有能力看到很多地方。

② 允许（可以）：Can we take photos here?——我们可以拍照吗？（请求允许）

③ 请求帮助（能…吗？）：Can you tell me the way...?——你能告诉我路吗？（请求对方做）

could 是 can 的过去式：we could see（过去的能力）；could 也用来"更客气"地请求（Could you...? 比 Can you...? 更礼貌）。

高频陷阱

① by bus 不加 the，on the bus 要加：I go to school by bus（方式，不加 the）；I'm on the bus（位置，加 the）。

② trip 和 journey：trip 是"短途出行"（a day trip 一日游），journey 是"从 A 到 B 的路程"（The journey took two hours）。

③ get on / get off 一对：上车 get on、下车 get off；上出租车用 get in（车小用 in，车大用 on）。

Modal Verbs: can & could

can 是 KET 第一个情态动词：表达能力、允许、请求。规则超简单——但正因为简单，中国考生常犯"加 s / 加 to"的错。

论情态动词的三条铁律

① 后面永远接动词原形：I can swim（不是 can swimming / can to swim）。

② 三单不加 s：She can play（不是 she cans play）。情态动词自己没有 -s。

③ 否定直接在后面加 not：can + not = can't / cannot；疑问直接把 can 提到主语前。

考试怎么考：Reading Part 4/5 填词：横线后是动词原形 → 前面填情态动词（can/must/should 之类）。"She ___ swim." 填 can。
