When I first moved into the flat, it took me a while to get used to living with three other people. The rent was reasonable, but we had to look into the contract before we signed it — our landlord turned out to be quite strict. In general, we get on well, though we all put off doing the washing-up until the kitchen is a mess. Marta, who lives downstairs, usually comes up with a fair rota, and Tomas takes care of the bills. On weekdays I get up early to catch the bus, but at weekends I sleep in and take things easy. Last month the heating broke down, so we had to call a repairman who fixed it within a day. Living away from home hasn't always been easy, but it has taught me to stand on my own two feet. All in all, it's a lifestyle that suits me — busy but manageable, and on the whole I wouldn't change it.

高频陷阱

① homework vs housework：homework 是学校作业；housework 是家务。别把"做家务"写成 do homework。

② in general vs generally：两者都对，但 in general 放句首当短语；generally 是副词（Generally speaking, ...）。

③ used to / be used to / get used to：used to do（过去常做）；be/get used to doing（习惯于）。课文是 get used to living（to 是介词，后接 -ing）。

④ borrow vs rent：rent 是长期付租金住；borrow 是临时借来还。租房子用 rent 不用 borrow。

最高频陷阱

① put off 后接 -ing：put off doing the washing-up，不是 put off to do。

② 可分/不可分短语动词：look after / look into / come up with 不能拆开（❌ look the contract into）；put off 可拆（put it off）。Part 2 完形考介词位置。

③ get used to 的 to 是介词：get used to living，不是 to live。这是中国学生最高频语法错误之一。

④ 别按字面翻 break down：暖气 break down = 坏了，不是"拆下来"。
