Where Is Fluffy?
原创课文，场景：6 岁的 Tom 放学回家，发现小猫 Fluffy 不见了，他跑遍每个房间去找。这是 Starters 听力"指图连线"和口语"东西在哪"的经典话题——注意加粗的房间词和方位词，第 3 章逐个拆。

课文 · Find the Cat

Tom is home from school. Where is Fluffy, his little cat? "Fluffy! Fluffy!" Tom looks in the bedroom. There is a bed and a desk. But Fluffy is not here. Oh, there is a toy under the bed, but no cat! Tom goes to the living room. There is a big sofa and a TV. His dad is on the sofa. "Is Fluffy in the kitchen?" Dad asks. Tom runs to the kitchen. There is a table and four chairs. Mum is there. "Fluffy isn't here," says Mum. "Look next to the door!" Tom looks next to the door. There is a small box. And guess what? Fluffy is in the box! "Here you are, Fluffy!" Tom laughs. "You are a funny cat!"
Tom 放学回到家。他的小猫 Fluffy 在哪儿呢？"Fluffy！Fluffy！"他去卧室找。卧室里有一张床和一张书桌。可是 Fluffy 不在这儿。哦，床底下有一个玩具，可是没有猫！Tom 跑到客厅。客厅里有一张大沙发和一台电视。爸爸正坐在沙发上。"Fluffy 在厨房吗？"爸爸问。Tom 跑进厨房。厨房里有一张桌子和四把椅子。妈妈在那儿。"Fluffy 不在这儿。"妈妈说。"看看门旁边！"Tom 看向门旁边。那儿有一个小箱子。你猜怎么着？Fluffy 在箱子里！"原来你在这儿呀，Fluffy！"Tom 笑了。"你真是一只有趣的小猫！"

论Starters 版"东西在哪"公式

第 1 句：某处有什么。There is a bed in the bedroom.（单数用 is）／ There are four chairs.（复数用 are）

第 2 句：问在哪。Where is the cat? — It's in/on/under the box.（方位介词跟上）

第 3 句：在房间里找。Is Fluffy in the kitchen? — No, she isn't.（一般疑问句）

考试怎么考：Starters 听力 Part 1 听指令"把狗放在桌子下面"；口语看图回答 Where is...?。听准房间词 + 方位介词就稳了。

高频陷阱

① in the tree / on the tree：鸟 in the tree（外来的），苹果 on the tree（长在树上）。Starters 看图题爱考这个小区别。

② 介词别漏 the：要说 on the bed / under the table，不能说 on bed。方位介词后面一般跟 the + 东西。

③ next to 是"紧挨着"，near 是"附近"：next to 比 near 更近。听力听到 next to 就要找最靠边的那个。

④ living room 是三个词：别写成 livingroom，中间有空格。bathroom 是一个词。

there is/are 是"某处有"的万能句型，in/on/under/next to 是 Starters 听力指图题的灵魂。这一章把"有没有"和"在哪"一次分清。

there is（单）vs there are（复）

最高频陷阱：is 还是 are，看紧跟它的东西

口诀：紧挨着 is/are 的那个东西是单数用 is，复数用 are。There is a cat and two dogs.（cat 单数，用 is）／ There are two dogs and a cat.（dogs 复数，用 are）

考试怎么考：读写 Part 2 看图选词 "There ___ three chairs." 选 are（三把椅子复数）。

和 have got 别混：There is a cat.（某处有）／ I have got a cat.（我拥有）——主语不一样。
