My Work Experience Week
原创课文，主角还是 16 岁的 Leo。PET 写作 Part 1 Email 常考"告诉朋友你的暑假计划/职业打算"，口语 Part 3 双人讨论兼职选择。注意课文里 will 和 be going to 的分工——第 3 章逐个拆。

课文 · A Week That Changed My Mind

Next month, our school will organise a Work Experience Week, and every student in Year 12 will spend five days doing a real job. I haven't decided yet what I am going to do. For years, I have wanted to become a software engineer — I spend hours coding in my free time, and I am pretty sure that I will enjoy sitting in an office with a laptop all day. But last week our careers teacher showed us a video about teaching. She said that good teachers will always be needed, and that the job is much more varied than people think. Now I am not so sure. This summer I am going to work in my aunt's café for two weeks. She runs a small place near the station, and I will help her serve customers and keep the books. She says I will probably hate getting up early, but I will learn more about running a business than any book can teach me. My best friend, Sophie, has already chosen her placement — she is going to a hospital, because she hopes to study medicine next year. She thinks she will become a paediatrician one day. As for me, I guess the week will help me make up my mind. If I still love code after five days in the real world, I will apply for a computer science degree. If not, well, there is always next year to decide.

论从"我要当老师"到"我这周要当老师吗"

KET 版：I want to be a teacher. I will help children.——两句口号，没有信息量。

PET 版：① 背景事实（school will organise a week）；② 长期愿望（I have wanted to become...）；③ 近期计划（This summer I am going to work...）；④ 条件假设收尾（If I still love code, I will apply...）。

考试怎么考：PET 写作 Part 1 Email "tell a friend about your plans for next year"，口语 Part 3 "decide together which job to choose"。四步一走，100 词 Email 自然成型，还踩中 will / be going to / if 三个语法点。

高频陷阱

① do / take / make an exam：英式常用 take an exam 或 do an exam，make an exam 是"出卷"，别搞混。

② work / job：work 不可数（a piece of work）；job 可数（a good job）。I have a part-time job。

③ salary vs wage：salary 白领月薪/年薪；wage 蓝领按小时算。PET 阅读常考配对。

④ 学科名大写：English / Maths / History 作学科时首字母大写；上大学后说 I study history 可小写。

语法延展 · will 与 be going to 将来时双雄

will & be going to
"我将来要做什么"是 PET 写作和口语的命门。will 和 be going to 都是"将来"，但分工完全不同——这一章把两者的使用场景一次讲透，外加 present continuous 表已安排好的将来。

最高频陷阱：will ≠ be going to

① 当场决定用 will：门铃响了，你说"I 'll open the door."——你刚才还没决定，是现在才决定的。不能用 I'm going to open。

② 早有计划用 be going to：三个月前就订了票，"I am going to visit my grandma this weekend."——不是临时决定。

③ 有迹象用 be going to：乌云密布、小孩要哭了——"The baby is going to cry." 不用 will，因为迹象就在眼前。

④ 考试怎么考：PET 阅读 Part 5 完形最爱挖 will / be going to 空。看上下文：有 already / plan / this summer → be going to；有 I think / probably / in the future → will。

Sophie: But look — the office job is on Saturday mornings, and you're going to play basketball then.
Leo: Good point. I could skip one Saturday, but I don't want to.
Sophie: So the café job is probably better. He'll learn to serve customers too.

词汇升级：从"职业/学校"扩展到"饮食健康""自然环境""科技通讯"三个高频话题，每个话题 60-80 词。

考试升级：U5 之后，写作 Email 要开始限时 45 分钟练；口语 Part 3 双人讨论要和搭档对练，不能再单练。
