论为什么这段课文是「正式文体教材」
普通写法（平铺直叙）：The old street was unrecognisable. The baker's and the bookshop were gone. New cafés were there instead.
C2 写法（前置 + 正式措辞）：Stripped of its familiar shopfronts, the old high street was scarcely recognisable. Gone were the baker's and the bookshop... What struck me most was not the glass and steel, but the palpable sense that a way of life had been erased.
升级点 1 — 分词前置：Stripped of...（被剥去了…）把状态挪到句首，句子立刻正式起来。
升级点 2 — 倒装表语前置：Gone were the baker's...（面包店不见了）——表语 Gone 提前 + 倒装，文学性极强。
升级点 3 — What 分裂句强调：What struck me most was...（最触动我的是…）——强调句，突出论点。
考试怎么考：CPE Writing Essay 要这种"先声夺人"的开头；Use of English Part 4 常考 Gone were / Rarely do we 这类倒装前置改写。

① heritage vs legacy：heritage = 代代相传的文化遗产（cultural heritage）；legacy = 某人物/时代留下的影响（a legacy of injustice）。别混用。
② preserve vs conserve：preserve = 原样保存（preserve old buildings）；conserve = 节约性保护（conserve energy）。
③ identique ≠ identical：课文用 identique 表"千篇一律的"，带批评色彩；identical 中性"完全相同"。
④ modernisation 是中性偏褒，derelict 才是"破败废弃"：描述老房子破败用 derelict，不用 modernised。

③ What 分裂句别丢动词：What I like is the architecture——What 从句作主语，谓语用单数。
考试怎么考：Part 4 KWT：The change was painful, but inevitable. → Painful as the change was, it was inevitable.
